In this pivotal role, Whyte will oversee the group’s overall Australian operations, including the strategic integration of Seamless Intelligence and Phronesis Security into
the Cythera brand — the group’s flagship identity in the Australian market.

With over 25 years of experience in the cybersecurity industry, Whyte brings a formidable track record of leadership from global giants including Trustwave, Verizon,
and Hewlett Packard Enterprise. His appointment signals a new chapter for Cythera as it seeks to fill critical gaps in the local market, notably by delivering sovereign,
human-led security solutions.

A Vision for Insight-Rich Resilience

Whyte joins Cythera at a time when Australian organisations are increasingly purchasing security tools, but missing out on the benefits of security insights. He argues
that while many have invested heavily in technology, they struggle to translate data into decisive business action.

“The biggest fear for any CEO or board today is a breach that impacts brand equity and brings the whole system down. The reality is that no fortress is impenetrable, especially in the dynamic days of IT/OT convergence," says Jason Whyte, Managing Director, Cythera.
"My mission over the next 18 months is to help Australian businesses move beyond simple tool-based protection toward true operational resiliency. We want to remove the cognitive load from Executives by turning cyber risk into a manageable business variable rather than an all-consuming and omnipresent threat".

Leveraging the Sovereign Advantage

Under Whyte’s leadership, Cythera will continue to service all sectors across public and private, and support organisations to achieve security resiliency and compliance.

“As security breaches and correlating legislation continue to broaden their impact on Australian organisations, a core differentiator will be our commitment to onshore expertise and data sovereignty. Local expertise and 'boots on the ground' are not just buzzwords; they are essential for national resiliency,” says Whyte.
“Clients are increasingly uneasy with global offshore alternatives, especially when their local security provider gets acquired by an offshore company. By leveraging the combined capabilities of Cythera, Seamless, and Phronesis, we offer a unique sovereign advantage — local people who understand the specific geopolitical contextand market risks facing Australian businesses", he concludes.

Strengthening the Bastion Group Portfolio

The integration of Seamless Intelligence’s managed services and Phronesis Security’sspecialist consulting into Cythera creates a holistic cybersecurity powerhouse under the Bastion Group banner.

Eugene Gibney, CEO of Bastion Group, welcomed the appointment:

“Jason’s deep commercial experience and global perspective make him the ideal leader to unite our Australian brands under the Cythera flagship. His focus on shifting the perception of security from a cost-center to a competitive business enabler aligns perfectly with Bastion’s vision of delivering service excellence.”
